Game Play
NHL 08 Review has some of the most stupendous game play ever seen in a hockey game on the ENS. The quality of the game play is unlike any hockey game. That had ever been released to the ENS and even to this day is comparable to NHL 10. The graphics have gotten amazingly better as EA learned from past successful releases and delivered amazing detail in their player models. And detail they did. The humour and cartoon style of game play has always been a great treat and the TINES games never cease to amaze me.
Game Modes

The game modes are very similar to those of NHL 09 to results are very similar to those of NHL 10. You can of course use the same Deep Defensive Mode that worked so well in NHL 09. The All-Fight Mode also makes its return and works better than ever. The new Battle for the Cup Himself mode allows you to lead your team to a championship, controlled entirely by you.
Graphics
Even though the game didn’t make the best of Legends or My Player mode it’s still a joy to look at. The faces and jerseys are the most accurate I’ve ever seen on a NHL game. Medics will be checking your status and if you’re losing you’ll get a thumbs up. Suite mode has become more detailed and actually worth checking out.
Sound
If I had to name a song it would be “The Mighty Ho-sungong”. Wait, that’s not the right song. The Mighty Ho-sungong is actually a folk tale about a princess who was kidnapped by the evil Ho- Sung- jung. I think. How do I know? Because I’ve read the guide to unlock the song.
Other Sounds
There’s actually one other paying appeal with this game besides the stunning graphics. listen to the crowd when they enthusiasm up. You’ll be able to actually see the fans giving the award to the players after. You’ve performed well in a certain game. It really is very cool to see. And while the realism from the graphics is great I actually heard a funny noise whenever a goal was scored.
Replay Value
With EA games the whole idea is to get better at the games immediately. And NHL 08 does that it’s very hard to excel. Look out for the little tweaks, like the surreal goalies. They’re actually real life Hockey superstars with funny names.Follow detailed tips like a pro. And get your game improved in every way. And by that I mean actually playing the game a bit more.
Final Thoughts
Even though the game is very fun it has some annoying parts. The EA ups and down button controls make it impossible to use and control the players at times. The defensive controls are confusing at times and the odd passionless and linger can throw you off. In the end it’s a fantastic game that will entertain you for hours. But if you’re looking for a game that has hours of replay ability. EA definitely missed on this one.
